Job Summary
Account Manager will be the liaison between Palomar and the assigned account(s).  The Account Manager is responsible for business bookings, sales, and overall customer satisfaction.  Oversees all contracts and phases of program life cycle. Utilizes direct customer contact and relationships to ensure performance of customer contracts, and customer satisfaction.  Requires regular customer interface to ensure Palomar departments meets the customer contractual required quality and delivery of products.  Works to identify organic sales growth opportunities, and prospects for new business opportunities, including new applications of Palomar Products at the assigned accounts. Supports and participates in the negotiation of contracts. Works closely with the Palomar Business Development team in identifying potential new opportunities for the assigned customers.  Leads and participates in the preparation of proposals, business plans and financials.  Mentored by Senior Account Managers and Business Unit Managers to develop best practices and gain industry experience.

Primary Responsibilities
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for Profit & Loss (P&L) for all assigned Accounts
  • Acts as the company representative and prime customer contact for all assigned accounts 
  • Participate in the resolution of technical and commercial issues
  • Capture and communicate customer requirements to all responsible functional groups
  • Coordinate cross functional teams to meet customer expectations
  • Hosts regular cross functional team meetings to review contracts and milestones and implement corrective actions as required
  • Participate and support company annual business plan
  • Work with functional groups to develop monthly/yearly forecast
  • Interface with accounting to resolve any payment issues on contracts
  • Prepare and present monthly account reviews to Palomar senior management
  • Works closely with customer accounts to identify and qualify opportunities to grow the backlog
  • Work closely with Business Unit Manager and VP of Sales to identify and participate in new business pursuits
  • Collaborate with Business Unit Manager and VP of Sales to obtain market intelligence (competitors, pricing, pain points, etc.)
  • Prepares proposal P&Ls/business cases for pursuits
  • Negotiate, review, and monitor contract performance
  • Provide input to Business Unit Managers to execute pricing strategy 
  • Identify cost cutting ideas to help Palomar achieve annual productivity goals
  • Ensures customers are kept informed of program activities and progress through regular written and or verbal communications, meetings and status reports
  • Facilitate and lead periodic customer site visits. Ensure the organization is prepared & customer expectations are met
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of MS office products
  • Familiar with Program Management tools and practices, engineering processes, schedules and budgets
  • Ability to write proposals
  • Must be able to maintain composure while under intense pressure and deadlines
  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple accounts
  • Excellent responsiveness and customer focus on outside customers and across the organization
  • High energy, and action oriented
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate Company needs
  • This position will require travel up to 50%, domestically and internationally


Education

  • BS or MS in Engineering or BA or MA in Business Administration, Masters preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience or equivalent work experience in an Aerospace electronics Sales and Marketing environment


Salary Range: $85,000 - $135,000
