Job Summary
Palomar is looking for a talented and highly motivated Test Engineer to join the Engineering team and help develop current and future generations of our Secure Communication System (SCS). The ideal candidate will be motivated, talented and will have experience supporting R&D activities, develop test equipment, define test methodologies and support product integration efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interact with other Engineering groups to define, document, analyze and interpret test requirements.
  • Generate comprehensive test plans and procedures.
  • Perform detailed system testing and qualification testing of Intercommunication systems.
  • Generate test reports and functional comparative analysis documentation.
  • Identify functional problems and suggests resolutions.
  • Debug new software builds, identifies defects, and writes concise Problem Trouble Reports.
  • Design and build engineering and production test fixtures used for system integration and automated testing.
  • Able to work independently on tasks that are of high complexity that may involve working with engineers from other functional disciplines.
  • Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Assist in the definition of internal quality control standards and the maintenance of reliability programs
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities necessary to mentor junior engineers and drive projects to completion
Essential Skills and Required Experience:
  • Knowledge in the use of a wide variety of test equipment and computer programs required to perform complex testing such as LabVIEW, Python, and C.
  • Must possess basic technology knowledge of processors, operating systems, application software, circuit cards, powering, interfaces, and similar items. Linux and Windows OS
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used engineering practices and procedures. Deriving test cases based on given requirements.
  • Use defect tracking tools JIRA, Bugzilla, etc.
  • Familiar with version control tools Git, etc.
  • Basic solder and assembly skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.  Ability to communicate with other engineering disciplines from an appropriate technology perspective.
  • Proficiency in use of oscilloscopes, audio analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers and DMMs required
  • Performs a variety of tasks where a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • US citizenship is required with the ability to obtain security clearance
  • Experience working with customers and third-party vendors
Education and/or Work Experience:
  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with environmental, thermal, EMI testing methodologies
  • Experience working in Aerospace/Military programs
  • Experience with Audio systems, conferencing and distribution of audio data and Audio signal processing
  • White/Black box testing experience
  • Familiar with requirements tools such as Doors, Jama, Visure, or Cameo
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000, AS9100, MIL-STDs, DOD 178C/DOD254, and other applicable standards

    Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00
