Job Summary
Reports to the Quality Manager and responsible for program support activity ensuring processes are established to assure products are compliant, as outlined in the Quality Manual, contract/SOW, and related technical documents.  This should be done through planning, evaluation, and monitoring activities of the quality system, and by developing, applying, and maintaining those quality systems for manufacturing processes, materials, specifications, products, policies, and procedures.  Also, you will be required to investigate, recommend, and implement continuous improvements across the organization by holding events throughout the year. You will maintain an advanced knowledge of electronics, inspection of counterfeit electronic components, and the understanding of all required testing for the mitigation of counterfeit material.

You will interface with Program Management Office, engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to resolve Quality issues in a timely manner by determining root cause, devising corrective/preventive action, closing out related documentation and reporting results to management. Responsible to lead technical evaluations, analysis, and related data acquisition processes to ensure quality objectives are achieved. You must possess the ability to lead a cross functional team through formal problem-solving events and workshops. You are to possess a strong, working knowledge of lean practices and techniques and the ability to apply those principles in an aerospace manufacturing environment in the context of quality improvement.

Primary Responsibilities
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Actively leads the improvement of customer satisfaction by eliminating customer returns through the effective utilization of continuous improvement techniques.
  • Lead Conduct Root Cause and Corrective Action Investigations in response to customer issues or corrective action requests, as required.
  • Lead an effective corrective and preventative action program that concentrates efforts to eliminate non-conformances and reduce scrap and rework costs.
  • Utilizes Advance Quality and Six Sigma methods to improve quality and manufacturing processes by holding multiple events throughout the year.
  • Lead quality engineering reviews of new product design and development documentation for compliance with stated requirements.
  • Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and provide recommended process improvements to management.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Performs and maintains an up to date and complete First Article Inspection database
  • Process non-conforming product through the Material Review Board (MRB) Process and conduct corrective action follow-up per internal and customer quality system requirements
  • Leads internal product, process and QMS audits, and facilitate the appropriate corrective actions with the responsible departments.
  • Coordinates source inspection with customer and government representatives.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality standards.
  • Leads an effective ESD program.
  • Develops and updates Quality Procedures and Work Instructions and provides training to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate with Suppliers and customer relating to quality trends, performance, and corrective actions.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Quality Management Systems, manufacturing processes and industry workmanship standards.
  • Advanced knowledge of AS9100, AS9101, AS9102, DO-178 and DO-254
  • Ability to interpret contractual and specification requirements
  • In-depth understanding of technical documentation
  • Advanced computer skills, including statistical/data analysis and report writing skills
  • Good organizational, communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated team leader with the ability to lead continuous improvement activities.
  • The ability to work well with employees and customers.
  • Initiates programs to enhance supplier performance.
  • Extensive knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn production processes.
  • Working knowledge of FRACAS
  • Understanding of counterfeit electronic components (IDEA-STD-1010)
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate Company needs. Some travel may be required (25%).


Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • BS Degree in an Engineering or technical discipline. Masters Degree (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a quality assurance engineering role.
  • Experience with inspection tools and methods.
  • Experience developing Quality Assurance processes in a manufacturing and/or product development environment.
  • ASQ Certifications (Preferred)
  • Certified IDEA-ICE-3000 inspector (Preferred)
  • Experience with the following is preferred:
    • IPC-610
    • IPC-J-STD-001
    • ESD


Salary Range: $100,000 - $135,000
